Field notes

dayz badlands base building

Ruined mud and stone houses can be brought back with wood, brick, mortar, and sheet metal. Filter the list by the job you are about to do.

First tool

A trowel is the new tool for brick and mortar. Logs, planks, and metal sheets still work.

Pick the approach that matches the opening or the wall in front of you. The code lock is a separate step and needs a charged V9.

Restore approaches

5 restore approaches

  • No diagram wooden restoration logs and planks
  • No diagram brick restoration brick and mortar, applied with the trowel
  • No diagram windows and doors wood plus sheet metal
  • No diagram barricade the door brick wall
  • No diagram clean rubble rubble can return building materials

Two published structure counts

Nasdara has nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures. Wells and irrigation tunnels are inside that figure.

Nasdara also has over 5,000 rebuildable houses, about 20 variants, in mud and stone. Keep both figures. One counts structures with wells and tunnels. The other counts houses.

Which materials do which job

Wooden restoration uses logs and planks. Brick restoration uses brick and mortar, applied with the trowel. Windows and doors take wood plus sheet metal. A door can be barricaded with a brick wall. Rubble from a torn-down house can come back as building materials.

Locking the door

The code lock, also called the Digital Code Lock, needs a charged V9 battery. When that battery dies, the lock opens. Console players can use it as well as PC players.

No default code has been announced, and no crafting count for the battery has been announced. Charge state is the part that decides whether the door stays shut.

Pick the job before you haul materials

Wooden restoration uses logs and planks. Brick restoration uses brick and mortar, and the new tool for that mix is the trowel. Logs, planks, and metal sheets still do their older jobs. Windows and doors take wood plus sheet metal. A door can be barricaded with a brick wall. Rubble from a torn-down house can return building materials.

Match the approach to the opening in front of you. If you are filling a window, you need wood plus sheet metal. If you are raising a brick face, bring the trowel, not only a stack of planks.

The two counts are not the same object. Nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures includes wells and irrigation tunnels. Over 5,000 rebuildable houses, about 20 variants, is the mud and stone housing. Quote the figure that matches the thing you are repairing.

Code lock and the V9 battery

A code lock, also called the Digital Code Lock, needs a charged V9 battery. The lock opens itself when that battery dies. Charge is part of the security, not a decoration. If you walk away until the battery is flat, the lock does not keep the door shut.

Place the lock after the wall or the door is actually there. The restore approaches above are about materials. The lock is the step that decides who can open the finished entrance, and it holds only while the V9 still has a charge.

No town-by-town material spawn and no required number of logs per house variant have been announced. Bring the tool that matches the approach, then learn the exact stack sizes in game. You get the approach and the material family, not a shopping quota.

The moped in the still is not a building part

The picture beside these approaches shows a yellow moped and an infected figure. Yellow is one of the Jana 50’s fixed colors, and the Jana 50 is the moped in the 1.30 bike pair. A picture is not a spawn point.

Bikes are repaired with a blowtorch, they have replaceable tires, and they do not use a car-style battery. That repair list is separate from the V9 that the code lock consumes.

If you are restoring a house on Nasdara, use the structure counts above. If you are only looking for a ride, the Jana 50 is the moped at about 70 km/h and the Bitrak 682 is the enduro at about 130 km/h.
